Case Studies

Here is a selaction of case studies from some of our heavy machining and large fabrication projects.

3Ks Engineering Co were approached by the main design contractor employed by the Ministry Of Defence to carry out urgent modifications required to HMS Ocean’s 34 tonne deployment pontoon. The pontoon had sustained serious accident damage deeming it unusable and requiring replacement of the 60mm thick steel hinge sections, a planned deployment of the vessel to a major international Navy exercise off the coast of Norway resulted in an emergency turnaround required. Content in the knowledge that 3Ks were not only able to handle the large heavy sections but also able to fully fabricate, weld and fully machine in house all of the new components required within an extremely tight time frame gave our client the confidence to award 3ks the contract. We are pleased to report that the job was completed within the agreed timeframe and on agreed budget with the pontoon being shipped by road back to the ship at Devonport Royal Dockyard over the festive season allowing the vessel to embark for the exercise as planned.

3ks Were approached by their client to manufacture a range of subsea components for the West of Shetland Oilfield development, one particular item being the Tray Mounted Pulling Head.

Being of extremely high tolerance these complex machined fabrications required full traceability during the manufacturing process, full control of the manufacture of these complex items could be maintained at all times in our fully comprehensive fabrication & machining facility, giving the client full confidence in the production process.

With over 100 of these units now in service on the seabed 3Ks Client together with BP petroleum were delighted with the quality of these large components.
